Man Stabs Friend to Death Over N2,000 Loan Dispute
Police operatives in Ondo State have arrested a 34-year-old man, Monday Chukwu, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Kefa Ofando, 30, to death during a dispute over a N2,000 debt.
The tragic incident occurred in Akintola village, located in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state. According to reports, an argument erupted between the two friends, which escalated into violence when Chukwu allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab Ofando in the neck.
Despite efforts to save his life, Ofando succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss while being rushed to the hospital.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Oladipo Abayomi, confirmed the arrest and detailed the circumstances surrounding the incident. “What started as a minor argument quickly escalated into a fatal confrontation,” Abayomi stated.
He added that the suspect and victim had been involved in a financial dispute after Ofando loaned Chukwu N2,000. The disagreement over the repayment of the loan resulted in the tragic stabbing.
Police from the Odigbo Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly to the scene following a complaint and took Chukwu into custody. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances leading to the fatal altercation.
