Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wedding Guest During Ceremony
The Niger State Police Command has arrested Jamilu Saidu, a resident of Kumbashi District in Mariga Local Government Area, for allegedly killing 30-year-old Iliyasu Aminu during a wedding ceremony.
According to police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun, the incident occurred when a fight broke out between residents of two villages—Yabawa and Ungwar Sarkin-Daji—during the wedding in Kumbashi District. In the course of the altercation, Jamilu allegedly struck Iliyasu on the head with a machete, resulting in his death.
The suspect was arrested immediately and reportedly confessed to the crime. Authorities also confirmed that Jamilu was among 10 individuals recently apprehended for various offences across the state.
