Man Allegedly Kills Wife Over Yam in Ebonyi
A 40-year-old man from Ebonyi State, Joshua Nwafor, has allegedly killed his wife, Charity, during a domestic dispute over a tuber of yam. The incident reportedly occurred in Nsokkara, Ezza South Local Government Area, where the couple had lived peacefully for 17 years.
According to witnesses, the conflict began when Joshua prepared a yam to cook for the family, but Charity insisted on roasting it instead. Despite her husband’s preference, she proceeded to roast the yam, leading to an argument. The disagreement quickly escalated, and Joshua reportedly dragged Charity into a room, locked the door, and beat her severely. She died from the injuries sustained.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident, condemning the act as tragic and unacceptable. He assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted and that the suspect would face justice.
