Mailafia Resigns From NIPSS, Says He Cannot Continue to Work at Institute While His People are Being Killed in Southern Kaduna
A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Obadiah Mailafia, said he has resigned from his position at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Mailafia, who was quizzed by the Department of State Services (DSS), over comments he made on a radio programme told online news media, Daily Post, that he resigned because of the killings in Southern Kaduna.
“I have resigned from NIPSS. Nobody asked me or pressurized me to resign. I did it on my own.
“I decided that I cannot continue working, with all my good conscience, when my people are continually being killed and genocide is being committed against my people.
“That was the reason I gave, and the management has accepted my resignation,” he said.
The former CBN Deputy Governor on Monday refused to honour invitation by the Police. He had approached a federal high court sitting in Jos to obtain injunction barring the Police from inviting. He said the police cannot investigate him for his comments which he said bothered on internal security.
