Maiduguri Floods: President Tinubu Announces Creation of Disaster Relief Fund
In response to the recent devastating floods in Maiduguri, President Bola Tinubu has announced the establishment of a Disaster Relief Fund. The directive came during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, shared this update with the media, highlighting the need for specialized funding to address the increasing frequency of disasters linked to climate change.
The floods in Maiduguri, Borno State, have had a catastrophic impact, affecting half of the city, causing fatalities, and destroying essential infrastructure.
Edun emphasized that the Federal Government is committed to securing funding from key stakeholders to support the new Disaster Relief Fund and address the challenges posed by such environmental crises.
