LP Convention: NLC Issues Vote of No Confidence in Abure
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has made a resounding statement by declaring a vote of no confidence in Mr. Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
In a recent development, the NLC has called for Abure’s immediate resignation, citing concerns over his alleged maladministration, sole administrator displays, and mismanagement of the party’s affairs. The NLC emphasizes the need for a caretaker transition committee to oversee a legitimate and inclusive National Convention of the Labour Party.
The Congress expressed dismay over Abure’s unilateral announcement of the Labour Party national convention, labeling it as illegal and lacking stakeholder involvement. The NLC, through a statement signed by Comrades Titus Amba and Chris Uyot, highlights a series of grievances against Abure’s leadership style, including his failure to fully implement agreements reached with Organised Labour.
Furthermore, the NLC accuses Abure of undermining efforts to resolve leadership crises within the Labour Party and expresses concern over allegations of financial mismanagement, including claims of diverting party funds. These accusations have led to a call for a forensic audit into the use of party funds, supported by prominent party member Mr. Peter Obi.
In response to these issues, the NLC has passed a vote of no confidence in Abure and demands his immediate resignation. Additionally, the NLC calls for the formation of a caretaker transition committee to organize a legitimate and all-inclusive National Convention of the Labour Party.
Amidst these challenges, the NLC reassures millions of supporters that their faith in the Labour Party should remain steadfast. The ultimate goal remains to secure political power for the people of Nigeria, and the NLC is committed to achieving this through a leadership that upholds the true ideals of the Labour Party.
