Suswam Consults Stakeholders in Bid for PDP National Chairmanship

Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, has officially announced his candidacy for the national chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), aiming to fulfill the unfinished tenure of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, who hails from Benue and the North Central region.

In a meeting held on Friday in Katsina-Ala, Suswam convened with the Benue North East PDP expanded caucus to present his candidacy and seek their support.

Expressing his commitment to the party’s principles and unity, Suswam highlighted his consultations with key party leaders in the state, including former governor Samuel Ortom, Senators David Mark and Abba Moro, as well as the State Working Committee (SWC) of the PDP.

Emphasizing the constitutional and precedential backing for the North Central, particularly Benue, to complete Senator Ayu’s truncated tenure, Suswam underscored his readiness to consolidate the party’s strength and mobilize support for the forthcoming 2027 elections.

Appealing for reconciliation among party members following past electoral contests, Suswam called for unity within the PDP ranks, citing the party as the foremost platform capable of steering Nigeria towards a brighter future.

Backing Suswam’s bid, notable party figures including Chief Mrs. Margaret Icheen, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba (the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general election), Hon. Maurice Tsav, and others affirmed their support during the gathering, underscoring Suswam’s credentials and alignment with the party’s objectives.
