‘Like He Did With CSU Records, Tinubu Wants To Stall Release Of FBI Files’ – Phrank Shaibu

President Bola Tinubu is facing mounting accusations of attempting to block the release of crucial FBI files concerning his criminal investigation by American authorities. The allegations come from Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who asserts that Tinubu’s ongoing secrecy about his past raises serious concerns.

This controversy unfolds as Tinubu’s lawyers in the United States have filed motions to become part of an ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case against the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The FOIA case is focused on obtaining records that could shed light on Bola A. Tinubu’s true identity and his lengthy history of activities.

Christopher Carmichael, one of the attorneys who previously represented Tinubu in the Chicago State University (CSU) records case, submitted the motion on October 18, 2023, expressing his intent to participate in the FOIA lawsuit ongoing in Washington D.C.

Responding to these legal maneuvers, Atiku’s aide raised concerns about Tinubu’s ongoing reluctance to provide clarity about his background. He highlighted the fact that questions persist about Tinubu’s real name, with even some members of the Tinubu family and educational institutions he claimed to attend denying any knowledge of him.

Shaibu also pointed out Tinubu’s unwillingness to divulge the identity of his father and his past, adding that he has failed to be transparent regarding the details of his settlement with American authorities in relation to a past drug trafficking investigation.

Furthermore, the President’s decision to block the release of the FBI documents, which could potentially clarify his past, has raised questions about the nature of the criminal investigation. Atiku’s aide argued that such secrecy was unacceptable for someone leading a nation of over 200 million people and called on U.S. authorities to assist Nigerians in uncovering the truth.

Shaibu emphasized, “Tinubu is a con-man. He has managed to keep his past a secret, and attempts to expose him in the past have been thwarted. Nigerians are now looking up to U.S. authorities to do the needful so that they can, at least, have the true information on the man who is presiding over their lives. We call on American authorities not to be persuaded by this con-man. Enough is enough! His criminal files must be released.”

He recounted how Rafiu Tinubu, a former Lagos State Head of Service, had authored a book in 2007 entitled ‘Onijumu Wura: The Tinubu Dynasty of Kakawa’ to expose Bola A. Tinubu as an impostor. However, all copies of the book mysteriously disappeared shortly after its launch, making it nearly impossible for anyone to access it.

The ongoing saga raises fundamental questions about the need for transparency regarding the history and qualifications of the person leading a country. Tinubu’s repeated attempts to hinder investigations into his past, Shaibu argues, only serve to further erode the public’s trust.

This latest development comes on the heels of revelations about President Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University, which exposed him as a certificate forger who fabricated documents submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission in the run-up to the 2023 Presidential election. This revelation cast a shadow on his integrity, revealing a history of forgery dating back to 1970 when he allegedly falsified the secondary school certificate of the then non-existent Government College Lagos.

In light of these allegations, the pressure on Bola A. Tinubu to adopt a more transparent stance on his past continues to mount. As Nigerians clamor for answers about their leader’s history, the world watches to see whether President Tinubu will respond to these pressing questions and controversies.
