‘Losing a mother is a pain unlike any other’ — Tinubu, Uba Sani condole with El-Rufai over mother’s death
President Bola Tinubu has extended condolences to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, where she had been receiving medical care.
The announcement was made by Bello el-Rufai on X, confirming the family’s loss. Reports indicate that she died while undergoing treatment abroad.
In a condolence message issued through presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu described the late Hajiya Umma as a matriarch who lived a full life and left behind a family with notable public contributions.
Tinubu said he understood the emotional weight of losing a mother, noting that such a loss carries deep personal impact. He expressed sympathy to the el-Rufai family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, asking that her life’s values and memories bring comfort to those she left behind.
He added that the family could find solace in faith and in the legacy she built, while praying for her acceptance in the afterlife.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, also issued a statement describing the death as a significant loss to the family and the state.
He said the late Hajiya Umma was known for humility, compassion, and a steady presence within her community, where she was often regarded as a source of counsel and reconciliation.
Uba Sani extended condolences to the el-Rufai family, praying for forgiveness for the deceased and strength for those left behind to cope with the loss.
