“Life Is Worse Under Tinubu Than Buhari,” Says Amaechi
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has said that life in Nigeria has deteriorated under President Bola Tinubu compared to the administration of Muhammadu Buhari.
Amaechi spoke on Tuesday during the second day of the #OccupyNASS protest at the National Assembly complex in Abuja. The demonstration, organized by civil society groups and political figures, is demanding amendments to the Electoral Act, including mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results ahead of the 2027 general election.
Security operatives restricted access to the complex, barring protesters from submitting their demands, while demonstrators chanted against perceived intimidation.
Amaechi, who recently left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), criticised the Tinubu administration for worsening economic conditions and alleged corruption.
“Life is worse now than during the Buhari regime,” he said, pointing to a $16 billion road project he claimed was awarded without due process. He added that the government’s corruption is deepening public discontent and questioned whether Tinubu could secure re-election in 2027.
