‘Lie from the Pit of Hell’ – APC’s Bashiru Dismisses Northern Conspiracy Against Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims of a northern conspiracy against President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, describing the rumour as entirely baseless. Speaking during a media roundtable organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone B, in Ibadan, Oyo State, the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, strongly rejected the notion of any regional opposition within the party.

Bashiru labelled the conspiracy theory “a lie from the pit of hell” and insisted that Tinubu continues to enjoy strong support across northern Nigeria. He pointed to warm receptions in major cities such as Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe as clear evidence of the president’s enduring popularity. “It’s a lie from the pit of hell to claim the North is ganging up against Tinubu. I say this from a position of knowledge,” Bashiru said, quoting revolutionary leader Amilcar Cabral: “Tell no lies, claim no easy victories.”

He highlighted recent public celebrations and the widespread popularity of Dauda Kahutu Rarara’s pro-Tinubu song *Omo Ologo* as further proof of the North’s continued backing. Bashiru dismissed suggestions of discontent or defection within the region, stating that northern APC supporters remain loyal and enthusiastic.

In a further swipe, the APC official criticised the newly formed opposition coalition, branding it a “mushroom party” made up of self-serving politicians with little to no political relevance.
