Lakurawa Bandits Kill Immigration Officers in Kebbi
In a tragic attack by the notorious Lakurawa armed group, two Immigration officers and one civilian were killed on Saturday in Kangiwa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Sources revealed that the officers were stationed at a location designated for the installation of border-monitoring equipment when the gunmen struck. The attack, which occurred in broad daylight, adds to a series of violent incidents attributed to the Lakurawa group in the region.
By 2 p.m. on Saturday, a grim scene unfolded at Sir Yahya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, where a Hilux vehicle carrying the bodies of the victims was parked. Immigration officers standing guard declined to comment on the incident. Efforts to obtain statements from the Kebbi Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, and his Immigration counterpart were unsuccessful, as both failed to respond to calls and text messages.
As of the time of this report, neither the Immigration Service nor the Police had issued an official statement on the attack.
