Kidnappers Collect N9 Million Ransom, Kill Victim
The Idumebo community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State was rocked by the murder of Johnbull Osagiede, despite the payment of a N9 million ransom to his kidnappers.
The tragic incident happened last Tuesday when gunmen stormed the Evbohen quarters of the community, abducting Osagiede and taking him to an undisclosed location. According to a family member, who requested anonymity, the kidnappers initially demanded N15 million for his release.
Negotiations led to the family paying N9 million in two installments, first N3 million and then N6 million, at locations specified by the kidnappers. However, despite meeting their demands, Osagiede was killed.
The community vigilante discovered Osagiede’s body dumped on Pipeline Road near Iguelaba community. The family has reported the incident to the Ugo Police Division.
When contacted, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, spokesperson for the State Police Command, stated that the command had not yet confirmed the incident, noting that such cases would only come to their attention if formally reported.
