Police Launch Manhunt for Abductors of Catholic Priest in Anambra
In a swift response to the alarming abduction of Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Basil Chukwuemeka Gbuzuo, operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have initiated a rigorous manhunt to track down the perpetrators.
Sources reveal that the abduction occurred around 8 am on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, along the Eke Nkpor-Obosi Bypass in the Idemili North local government area of the state.
SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed that Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, engaged with the authorities of the Archdiocese of the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province. He assured them of the police’s commitment to rescuing the abducted priest unharmed and bringing his abductors to justice.
Meanwhile, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, the Archbishop of the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, has issued a heartfelt appeal to Catholic faithful and individuals of goodwill. He urges them to fervently pray for the swift and safe release of Rev. Fr. Chukwuemeka, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and collective effort during this trying time.
