In the wake of a devastating fire that engulfed two transformers at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) power station, Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, amidst swirling rumors of possible sabotage.
Accompanied by Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, Governor Idris visited the charred remains of the TCN power station in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday. During his inspection, he expressed concerns about speculations that excessive power hoarding might have been a catalyst for the fire outbreak.
Governor Idris commended the rapid response and valiant efforts of both state and federal fire services in extinguishing the formidable blaze, thereby preventing its spread and mitigating further damages. He pledged, “I have learned that you have only five operational vehicles. Funds will be made available for the refurbishment of your equipment and vehicles, ensuring you are well-equipped to carry out your essential duties.”
Urging citizens to remain calm and lend their unwavering support to TCN in its ongoing endeavors to restore power to the state, Governor Idris also announced the allocation of funds to the Ministry for Water Resources. These funds will be used to procure additional diesel fuel, ensuring a continued supply of water to the populace during the blackout period.
