Katsina Under Siege: Bandits Overrun Military Base, Unleash Chaos on Nahuta Community
In a brazen attack, armed bandits descended upon a joint military camp in Nahuta village, located in the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina state, on Sunday night. The assailants, armed with AK-47s and other weapons, wreaked havoc as they set vehicles and valuables ablaze, leaving destruction and stolen goods in their wake.
Sources from within the camp confirmed that the assault occurred around 11:30 pm. Despite the outnumbered military personnel, their resilience prevailed, successfully repelling the attackers and preventing any loss of life.
A source within the camp expressed frustration, stating, “The bandits outweighed us and invaded the camp, causing considerable damage. Unfortunately, reinforcements were lacking throughout the encounter.”
Exploiting the chaos, the bandits extended their reign of terror to Nahuta town, unleashing further mayhem. Shops were ransacked, houses were broken into, and properties and livestock worth millions of naira were looted. The aftermath has left residents traumatized and dispossessed.
As of the time of this report, security agencies have not officially commented on the latest bandit attack in Katsina state, which grapples with the persistent menace of banditry and kidnapping.
