Kano Guber Poll: Tribunal Orders Police Commissioner to Produce Results
The Kano state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has ordered the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Iliyasu to produce duplicate copy of the results of the the state governorship election in his possession.
The chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Halima Shamaki gave the order on Wednesday at the Tribunal’s proceedings. The Commissioner is to tender the documents on August 5, 2019.
The petitioners, Abba Kabir-Yusuf and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are requesting for all the copies of election results that were given to the police personnel that served at various polling units in the state during the March 6, 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.
The head of the Legal department of the Kano state police command, Sunday Ekwe confirmed that the police has been duly served with a subpoena, directing the commissioner of police to produce duplicate copies of the result sheet. He, however, prayed for more time to crosscheck if the documents requested by the Tribunal were in their possession.
