Kaduna: Petrol Tanker Explosion Leaves 20 Injured
In a devastating incident that rocked the Rigasa area of Kaduna State, a petrol tanker explosion has left no fewer than 20 people with varying degrees of injuries. The incident, which occurred at a petrol station, sent shockwaves through the community.
Mr. Paul Aboi, the Director of the Kaduna State Fire Service, disclosed this grim news during an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna. Among the victims, five federal firefighters, some members of the Kaduna Vigilance Service, and innocent passers-by found themselves caught in the terrifying blast.
Currently, the injured firefighters are undergoing medical treatment at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in Kaduna. The gravity of their injuries underlines the seriousness of the incident.
According to Aboi, the catastrophe unfolded while the petrol tanker was engaged in offloading its flammable cargo at the station on a fateful Wednesday. He unequivocally attributed the incident to the negligence of the filling station, emphasizing that offloading such hazardous materials should not have been attempted during the afternoon hours.
The community is left grappling with the aftermath of this devastating explosion, and questions of safety and negligence are bound to be scrutinized in the days to come as authorities seek to prevent such tragic incidents from happening again.
