The hope of the petitioners; People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Hon. Isa Ashiru became brighter as the tribunal sitting in Kaduna admitted all exhibits presented to the court from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.
With the cross examination that was carried out on the witnesses by all counsels involved in the matter during the proceedinbs was an attestation to the fact that the incumbent Governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani was declared as the winner of the gubernatorial election in Kaduna in error.
However, the coast is already becoming clearer for Isa Ashiru and his party, PDP, as Uba Sani lead Counsel, Chief Duro Adeyele (SAN) became confused as to what question to ask the star witness during the cross examination. He begged to stand down his questions so as not to injure himself.
Despite the objections to the admissibility of the documents and competency of the witness to represent the INEC at the court. The objections raised by the counsels to the 1st (INEC), 2nd(Uba Sani) and 3rd(APC) respondents seem to be lacking merits, making the court to admit all exhibits brought before the tribunal in favour of Isa Ashiru.
Another witness, Danjuma Sarki who also testified to the rigging of the gubernatorial election in Kaduna had furnished the tribunal with the duplicates of the result sheets of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state as collated.
Sarki who was the State Returning Officer for the PDP for the election, during cross examination testified to various electoral documents which indicated that PDP and its candidate, Isa Ashiru won the election.
During the cross examination, Sarki averred that elections and results were wrongly captured and cancelled in some polling units in the state.
After submissions from all counsels, the three-man panel headed by Justice Victor Oviawe had adjourned the case till 19th July, 2023.
