In a landmark ruling, the election petition tribunal in Lokoja has officially declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the rightful winner of the fiercely contested Kogi Central Senatorial election held on February 25.
Justice K.A. Orjiakoin, the tribunal’s Chairman, delivered this verdict on Wednesday, effectively sealing Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s victory. According to the tribunal’s findings, Uduaghan secured an impressive 54,064 votes, narrowly surpassing her closest opponent, Sadiku-Ohere, who garnered 51,291 votes.
Furthermore, Justice Orjiakoin ordered Sadiku-Ohere, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to pay Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan the sum of N500,000 as compensation for the expenses incurred during the petition process.
This significant development has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Kogi Central and has far-reaching implications for the region’s representation in the Nigerian Senate.
