JUST IN: Tinubu Meets Wike Amid Protests in Abuja

Amid the ongoing nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a crucial meeting on Thursday with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

 

Wike arrived at the State House in Abuja around 4 p.m., dressed in a white suit and driving a Prado SUV. While the specific agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, its timing amidst the capital’s unrest adds to the growing public interest.

 

The Federal Capital Territory has been a hotspot for demonstrations, with protesters defying security warnings to vacate areas such as the Central Area, particularly around Eagle Square. The protests have seen participants demanding better governance and transparency.

 

Despite a court order limiting protests in the FCT to the Moshood Abiola Stadium, the #EndBadGovernance movement has significantly impacted daily life in Abuja. In the Wuse 2 area, social and economic activities have come to a standstill. Many businesses, including banks and commercial entities along Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent, remained closed on Monday, and vehicular movement was notably reduced.

 

The meeting between Tinubu and Wike comes at a crucial time, as the government navigates the public’s dissatisfaction and calls for reform.
