JUST IN: Supreme Court Validates Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Victory
The Supreme Court has confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election that took place on February 25. The apex court, in a unanimous decision, declared that the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was without merit.
Justice Inyang Okoro, delivering the judgment, stated, “On the whole, having resolved all the issues against the appellant, it is my view that there is no merit in the appeal, and it is hereby dismissed.” This verdict upholds the judgment of the court below, which had been delivered on September 6, 2023, and had confirmed Bola Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Atiku Abubakar had approached the Supreme Court seeking to overturn the decision of the presidential election petition tribunal, which had previously affirmed Bola Tinubu’s election as president. This judgment marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s political landscape, solidifying President Tinubu’s position as the leader of the nation for the foreseeable future.
