Bwala Reveals Why He Considered Leaving Nigeria After Tinubu’s Victory
Daniel Bwala has revealed that he once feared President Bola Tinubu would go after him politically because of his previous attacks on the President while he was in the opposition.
Bwala made the disclosure during an interview on Symfoni TV on Saturday.
According to him, he expected Tinubu to retaliate against critics after assuming office, especially those who had publicly opposed him.
“I feared Tinubu would hunt me down. Leadership comes with different challenges and perceptions,” Bwala said.
He explained that his fears were shaped by his strong criticism of Tinubu before the 2023 general election.
Bwala added that he had even considered distancing himself from politics by pursuing a PhD programme abroad.
“When I was in the opposition, I thought that if President Tinubu came to power, he was going to hunt me down. That was the year I decided to just go for a PhD and leave Nigeria alone,” he said.
However, Bwala said his expectations changed after Tinubu reached out to him and invited him to join the administration.
“He never did that. Instead, he called me to come and be part of what is happening in government,” he added.
