JUST IN: Super Eagles to World Cup Playoffs as South Africa Qualifies After 16 Years
Nigeria defeated Benin Republic 4-0 in Uyo on Tuesday, with Victor Osimhen scoring a hat-trick and Chukwuemeka Onyeka adding a late goal.
The win secures Nigeria second place in CAF Group C and a spot in the interconfederation playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
South Africa won the group with a 3-0 victory over Rwanda, qualifying for the World Cup finals for the first time since 2010, ending a 16-year absence.
Benin, who had led the group before the final round, finish third and miss out on a maiden World Cup appearance.
