JUST IN: South-East Senators, Political Leaders Join ADC in Enugu

Several prominent South-East Senators have formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant shift in the region’s political landscape. The announcement was made on Wednesday in Enugu, the state capital, during a gathering that included former governors and other political leaders.

Among the Senators who defected were Ben Obi, Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye, Gilbert Nnaji, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Sam Egwu. Their decision, they said, reflects a collective effort to strengthen a unified opposition capable of challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event also featured former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, and leaders from other regions, including former Senate President and ADC National Chairman David Mark and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

Speaking at the event, the Senators emphasized their commitment to national reform, criticizing the APC for what they described as weak governance and the erosion of democratic values. They framed their move to the ADC as part of a broader initiative to build a credible platform for inclusive socio-economic development.

This defection represents a major realignment in South-East politics ahead of upcoming electoral cycles, signaling growing momentum for opposition coordination in the region.
