JUST IN: Seven Travellers Kidnapped on Rivers Waterways
Seven travellers have been reportedly abducted along the Onne waterways in Rivers State. The incident occurred as the victims were aboard a boat en route to Port Harcourt.
According to reports, the abduction took place on Monday when armed assailants ambushed the boat, seizing the passengers and escaping to an undisclosed location.
Confirmation of the incident came from the Rivers State Police Command, with the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, stating that the boat, carrying a total of 20 passengers from Bonny to Onne, was intercepted by “daredevil sea pirates” along the Onne River. The passengers were allegedly robbed before seven of them were abducted.
The identities of the kidnapped individuals and the motives behind the abduction remain unclear at this time.
