JUST IN: President Tinubu Appoints New ICPC Management Team

President Bola Tinubu has exercised his presidential authority by appointing a new management team for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). This decision comes as part of the renewed effort to reform vital institutions and intensify the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Key Appointments:

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu – Chairman / Chief Executive Officer, ICPC

Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu – Secretary to the Commission, ICPC

The newly appointed Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, is awaiting confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. This move follows the President’s approval of the outgoing ICPC Chairman’s request to proceed on pre-end of tenure leave starting on November 4, 2023, ahead of his tenure’s conclusion on February 3, 2024. Notably, the position of Secretary to the Commission does not require Senate confirmation, and Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu has assumed the role with immediate effect.

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, a legal expert with a rich background, has been instrumental in initiating extensive reforms during his tenure as the Attorney General of Jigawa State since September 2019. His educational qualifications include Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in Law. Moreover, he was recently designated as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in October 2023.

Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu brings over three decades of legal expertise to his role, having served with distinction in various public service capacities. He served as a Member of the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission and chaired the Caretaker Committee of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council.

In a statement, President Tinubu called upon the new ICPC management team to maintain the highest standards of integrity and impartiality as they fulfill their responsibilities concerning all matters under their purview.
