JUST IN: President Tinubu Dissolves NAHCON Board, Appoints New Chairman
President Bola Tinubu has taken a decisive step in reorganizing the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). The President has approved the appointment of Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON for an initial term of four years.
As part of this restructuring, the outgoing chairman and chief executive officer, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, has been directed to proceed on a 3-month pre-retirement leave, in accordance with the Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243. This leave takes effect from October 18, 2023, leading to his eventual retirement from service on January 17, 2023.
Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi will assume office in an acting capacity on October 18, 2023, and subsequently serve in a substantive capacity for a fresh four-year term commencing on January 17, 2023.
In a related move, President Bola Tinubu has also approved the dissolution of the board of NAHCON.
The President’s expectations are clear: the new NAHCON leadership should serve with reverence to Allah and unwavering adherence to the precepts of service as outlined in the Holy Qur’an.
This decision signals a significant shift in leadership within NAHCON and underlines the President’s commitment to ensuring efficient and effective management of the commission.
