JUST IN: President Tinubu Appoints New Heads for NIA, DSS

 

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).

 

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu revealed that Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed will take over as the Director-General of the NIA, while Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has been appointed as the Director-General of the DSS.

 

The statement highlighted Ambassador Mohammed’s extensive experience in the foreign service, which began when he joined the NIA in 1995. He has held various key positions throughout his career, including leading the Nigerian mission in Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Ambassador Mohammed has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and within the State House in Abuja.

 

Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has also had a distinguished career within the security service. Rising through the ranks, he most recently held the position of Assistant Director-General. Ajayi has served in several critical roles, including as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

 

These appointments come following the resignation of the previous heads of the NIA and DSS. President Tinubu expressed his expectations that the new leaders will work diligently to strengthen the two intelligence agencies. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security bodies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to address the country’s security challenges effectively.

 

President Tinubu also extended his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
