JUST IN: Finally, Former Governor Yahaya Bello Honors EFCC Invitation After Months of Evasion
Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Kogi State, has finally responded to an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to a statement released by his media office on Wednesday, the decision to honor the invitation was reached following extensive consultations with his family, legal advisors, and political allies.
This comes after months of tension, with the EFCC declaring Bello wanted in April after he reportedly ignored multiple summonses and resisted arrest. In a high-profile incident earlier this year, EFCC officials, supported by the Police and Department of State Services (DSS), attempted to arrest the ex-governor at his residence but were initially unsuccessful.
The situation escalated when current Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo visited Bello’s residence. As Ododo departed, reports surfaced that Bello was in the governor’s vehicle, leading to a brief standoff, during which security forces opened fire.
