JUST IN: FG Declares April 3 and 6 Public Holidays
The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays for the Easter celebration.
April 3 marks Good Friday, while April 6 will be observed as Easter Monday.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He extended greetings to Christians in Nigeria and abroad, acknowledging the significance of the season. Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to reflect on values associated with Easter, including selflessness, forgiveness, patience, and love, as reflected in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The minister also called for unity and peaceful coexistence across the country, noting that the period highlights the importance of tolerance and shared community values.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policies aimed at national development, economic growth, and improved living conditions.
Tunji-Ojo wished Christians a peaceful and meaningful Easter celebration.
