JUST IN: Federal High Court Dismisses Nnamdi Kanu’s N1 Billion Suit Against FG, DSS
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled against Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in his lawsuit seeking N1 billion in damages for alleged rights violations.
Kanu, who is facing criminal charges, had filed the suit accusing the Department of State Services (DSS) and its Director General of infringing on his right to fair hearing. He claimed that the DSS obstructed his legal team from freely interacting with him, thereby hindering his defense preparation.
However, in a judgment delivered by Justice James Omotosho on Monday, the court found Kanu’s evidence insufficient to substantiate his allegations. The court specifically noted that there was no credible proof that Kanu’s communications with his lawyers were disrupted or monitored by DSS officials, which would constitute a violation of his right to fair hearing.
