JUST IN: #EndBadGovernance Protest: Woman Collapses After Police Fire Tear Gas in Abuja
During the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, a female protester collapsed after police fired tear gas to disperse the peaceful demonstrators.
Despite the chaotic scene as protesters scattered, two resilient individuals remained behind, braving the tear gas to assist the collapsed woman. She has since been taken to the hospital for treatment.
This incident underscores a troubling trend: police in Abuja, as in many other parts of Nigeria, frequently resort to tear gas to break up peaceful protests, often disregarding the health risks associated with its use.
SK Blog has reported on the persistent use of tear gas by the police to disperse protesters in Abuja on both Thursday and Friday. However, demonstrators have shown resilience, regrouping each time and pledging to continue their daily protests as part of the 10 days of rage initiated by the organisers.
