JUST IN: EFCC Arrests Ex-Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa Over Alleged N1.3 Trillion Diversion
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained Ifeanyi Okowa, former governor of Delta State, in connection with the alleged misappropriation of N1.3 trillion.
Sources report that the funds in question were designated as part of the 13 percent derivation allocation, a financial provision intended to support oil-producing states in Nigeria. Investigators allege that the substantial sum was siphoned between 2015 and 2023, covering Okowa’s tenure as governor.
The EFCC has yet to release a formal statement on Okowa’s arrest, though insiders suggest the investigation is ongoing and more details are expected in the coming days.
