JUST IN: Delta Governor’s Special Adviser Shimite Bello Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances, Husband Arrested

Mrs. Shimite Bello Love, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, has died under suspicious circumstances that have ignited serious concern and speculation. Popularly known as “Madam Sabificate,” Shimite reportedly died of suspected poisoning on Easter Sunday. She was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in Asaba, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Witnesses say she was foaming at the mouth, and her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, has been arrested in connection with her death.

Sources close to the family confirmed that Shimite appeared to be in perfect health the day before her passing. A relative recalled having a long, upbeat conversation with her on Saturday. Alarm was raised on Easter Sunday when her maid contacted Shimite’s elder brother, reporting that Pastor David had locked her in the house all day. Upon arrival, her brother found her unconscious and rushed her to the hospital.

Family members have made serious allegations against Pastor David, claiming he deliberately isolated Shimite from her loved ones and tightly controlled her life. According to them, he restricted her movements, refused visits from family, and allegedly changed the ownership of her properties to his name. Some relatives believe she was under psychological manipulation or even hypnosis.

“She would always say, ‘Don’t worry, my husband is a pastor. He’s my spiritual father. He sees everything,’” a family source said. “But he wouldn’t let her go to work, and he followed her everywhere. She was a vibrant woman. How could someone in her position die like that without warning?”

Shimite had a distinguished career in both politics and enterprise. She previously served as Executive Secretary of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency under former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and ran for the Oshimili North constituency seat in the 2023 PDP primaries. She was also the Group President and CEO of the Quintessential Group, a conglomerate involved in agriculture, solid minerals, and social impact work.

As of the time of this report, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comment. Shimite’s body has been deposited in the mortuary while police investigations into the circumstances of her death continue.
