JUST IN: Court Denies Emefiele’s Request for Medical Trip Abroad
Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has denied former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele’s request to travel to the United Kingdom for a follow-up medical checkup.
In his ruling, Justice Muazu stated that Emefiele did not provide sufficient evidence to demonstrate that the medical trip was essential and unavoidable. Emefiele had claimed an invitation for medical attention in the UK, but failed to present a copy of this invitation to the court.
Moreover, Justice Muazu noted that Emefiele did not prove his ailment could not be treated within Nigeria. Additionally, the judge highlighted that Emefiele is currently facing charges in three other courts.
