JUST IN: Court Restrains PDP from Conducting State Congress in Rivers State

The Rivers State High Court has issued an injunction restraining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from conducting a congress in Rivers State. This order will remain in effect until a pending lawsuit is fully resolved.

The court’s directive specifically targets the party’s National Chairman, National Financial Secretary, National Organizing Secretary, and other representatives, barring them from organizing any congress-related activities in the state.

This ruling temporarily suspends all plans for the congress in Rivers State, underscoring the necessity of resolving the ongoing legal issues before any party proceedings can take place.

The PDP had scheduled state congresses nationwide for July 27, 2024. However, the court’s decision means that the congress in Rivers State will not proceed as planned until further notice.
