JUST IN: Barack, Michelle Obama Endorse Kamala Harris for US Presidency
Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have officially endorsed Kamala Harris’ bid for the presidency.
In a one-minute video capturing a private phone call between the couple and Vice President Harris, the Obamas expressed their support and highlighted their long-standing friendship with Harris.
“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” Obama told Harris.
“I am proud of you. This is going to be historic,” the former first lady added.
Obama further shared the news on the social media platform X, stating, “Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support.”
Harris responded with gratitude, saying, “Thank you both. It means so much. And we’re gonna have some fun with this too.”
As the first Black president of the United States, Obama remains one of the most influential figures in the Democratic Party, even more than a decade after his presidency.
Kamala Harris is set to name her running mate by August 7, as her campaign for the presidency gains momentum.
