JUST IN: 27 Rivers State Lawmakers Switch Allegiance from PDP to APC
27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, spearheaded by Martin Amaewhule and aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, have made an unsurprising move by defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The legislators, who actively pursued the impeachment of Governor Sim Fubara, cited internal divisions within the PDP as the driving force behind their mass defection to the APC. This move has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Rivers State.
Furthermore, the defectors collectively voiced their dissatisfaction with the withholding of funds earmarked for the Management of the House of Assembly, adopting a resolution to condemn this financial setback.
In a parallel development, during Monday’s assembly session, members of the Rivers State House passed the Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2023 to the Second Reading, among various other legislative activities. The political landscape in Rivers State is undergoing a profound transformation with these dynamic developments.
