Joint Security Forces Kill Armed Gang Member, Destroy Criminal Camp in Anambra
A joint security operation in Agulu-ezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State has led to the death of a suspected gang member and the destruction of a criminal hideout. According to Anambra State Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the raid was carried out by a combined team from the Department of State Services, the Army, Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the state’s vigilante group.
The security forces engaged the armed gang in a prolonged gun battle that lasted for seven hours before successfully overrunning the camp. During the operation, several items were recovered, including an ash-coloured Toyota Sienna with registration number EKY 03 FF, an unregistered white Mazda Hilux, and a motorcycle. Other seized items included household and kitchen supplies such as pots, mattresses, gallons, groceries, clothing, and additional incriminating materials.
Ikenga confirmed that the security personnel are continuing a search of the area for possible arrests of other fleeing suspects, noting the presence of fresh bloodstains at the scene, which may indicate wounded members of the gang remain at large.
