IPOB burnt my home – Joe Igbokwe

Joe Igbokwe, the Special adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on drainage and water resources has that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are responsible for burning down his Anambra home.

He made this known via a Facebook post, where he also uploaded a video of the attack as captured on CCTV.

He said, “IPOB invaded my house in Nnewi. I am sure they razed my house giving the jerry cans of petrol I saw being offloaded from their Sienna car via CCTV. To God be the glory. I am still alive.”

It would be recalled that Joe Igbokwe is a strong critic of the ideologies of the IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the group, to the extent that he had been threatened severally by IPOB sympathisers on social media.

The IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, while reacting said “We don’t know anything about the burning of Joe Igbokwe’s house. I have said it several times that we are not unknown gunmen. We have nothing to do with them.”

He further stated that “God will punish all those who  associate us with unknown gunmen and all those who kill and burn people’s houses using our name will die disgraceful death.”

He reiterated that “How can we kill or destroy the property of the people we have staked our lives to protect? Does it make any sense? Please, tell them we are not unknown gunmen and we have no business with such people.

“We remain a non-violent organisation. Why should we burn Joe Igbokwe’s house? Is Igbokwe not an Igbo man and our brother?”
