“I’m Not APC, Won’t Leave PDP, But I Endorse Tinubu” — Fayose Backs President, Oyebanji at APC Rally in Ado-Ekiti

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has openly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally held in Ado-Ekiti on Monday. Despite donning a cap branded with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) logo, Fayose declared his support for both Tinubu’s 2027 presidential re-election bid and Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Addressing the crowd, Fayose emphasized that his support for Tinubu and Oyebanji was unreserved, describing the gathering as significant due to the presence of key political figures in the state. “To endorse publicly, without reservation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. That is the reason why we are here,” he said. “And to endorse our own governor. Humility personified, Abayomi Oyebanji, and his deputy for a second term.”

Fayose, a known PDP stalwart, was quick to clarify that he remains a loyal member of his party and has no intention of joining the APC. “I am not a member of this party (APC) and I will never be,” he stated.

The endorsement follows Fayose’s recent remarks warning that the PDP risks placing fourth in the 2027 general elections—a comment that has sparked internal backlash. The PDP in Ekiti State has since called for his resignation, accusing him of engaging in anti-party conduct.

Fayose’s public backing adds to the momentum behind President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign. In recent months, Tinubu has secured endorsements from several high-profile groups, including the Progressive Governors Forum and party leaders in the South-South geopolitical zone.
