“If Your Father Has No Political Connection, Don’t Study Political Science, History, Microbiology…….” — Odumeje Tells Nigerian Students

 

Popular Anambra-based cleric Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has advised Nigerian youths against pursuing certain university courses, describing them as unproductive for those without influential backgrounds. In a viral video shared on X on Monday, Odumeje cautioned prospective students to avoid fields such as political science, history, microbiology, library information science, and sociology.

 

According to the cleric, these courses are especially impractical for young people from modest means who do not have political or governmental connections. He urged them to consider more practical alternatives, even suggesting vocational training like barbing over studying what he called “nonsense” subjects that do not guarantee employment. Odumeje stressed the importance of choosing meaningful courses that can translate into real job opportunities, highlighting the high unemployment rate among graduates.

 

This advice aligns with Odumeje’s reputation for bold and dramatic statements. Recently, he also revealed plans to run for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027, emphasizing the need for younger, digitally savvy leadership to replace what he called the “old cargoes” who have failed to advance the country. Though he did not specify any political party affiliation, Odumeje declared his readiness to bring modern development and a digital lifestyle to Nigerians if elected.

 

In a sermon that has circulated widely on social media, he asked his followers if they were prepared for his presidency, promising to introduce major infrastructure projects, including a main road he called “Citadel.”
