Viral Video: Gov Eno’s Daughter Misled by False Prophets, Says Akwa Ibom Government
The Akwa Ibom State Government has responded to a viral video shared by Mrs. Jane Eddidiong Ufot, daughter of Governor Umo Eno, describing it as the result of emotional distress and manipulation by false prophets. In the video, which surfaced over the weekend, Jane expressed fear for her life and that of her daughter, claiming that the same “evil forces” she believed were responsible for the death of her mother, Pastor Mrs. Patience Eno, were threatening them.
Jane, who serves as the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Safety and Environment, said she made the video after her father failed to respond within a deadline she gave. In one of the clips, she is seen speaking emotionally, saying, “Daddy, I will send this particular post to only you. Please let us talk before this thing destroys. I’m not a sacrifice. Mummy was, I’m not.” In another segment, she coaches her young daughter during a video call, asking her to plead with “Grandpa” not to let them die.
Reacting to the incident, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, said Jane’s actions were the result of trauma and influence from so-called “false prophets.” He explained, “The video reflects a moment of emotional outpouring from a bereaved child who, under the influence of false prophets, had been misled to believe the family’s involvement in politics contributed to her mother’s demise.”
Umanah condemned the spread of the video, saying it was a private, painful moment being “maliciously weaponized in an attempt to tarnish the image of the Governor and score cheap political points.” He emphasized that at no point in the video did Jane accuse the Governor of any wrongdoing. The Commissioner expressed concern over the efforts by “detractors and self-styled ‘pastorpreneurs’” to exploit the grieving family for political gain.
He reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Umo Eno remains committed to the ARISE Agenda, which he said is delivering tangible development across Akwa Ibom State. “These actions reflect the desperation of those unsettled by the Governor’s visible, verifiable, and widely celebrated achievements,” Umanah stated.
Pastor Mrs. Patience Eno passed away suddenly in September last year. Following her death, the Governor appointed his eldest daughter, Lady Helen Obareki, to assume the duties of the First Lady and continue her mother’s humanitarian initiative, Golden Initiatives For All (GIFA).
