“The Worst Government Now Is Nigeria” — Odumeje Calls Out Adeboye, Oyedepo for Silence on National Issues
Anambra-based clergyman, Prophet Odumeje, has publicly criticized prominent Nigerian pastors, Enoch Adeboye and David Oyedepo, for their silence on the country’s worsening economic and social conditions. In a viral video, the outspoken preacher lamented the high levels of poverty and hunger across Nigeria, questioning why respected Christian leaders who once spoke boldly against government policies under former President Goodluck Jonathan now appear quiet.
Odumeje recalled how Pastor Adeboye had previously condemned rising fuel prices during Jonathan’s tenure but has not made similar comments despite the current economic hardship. He compared Nigeria’s present situation unfavorably to that of neighboring Ghana, noting that the Ghanaian currency now fares better against the dollar while Nigeria continues to struggle.
“The worst government now is Nigeria,” Odumeje said. “See where Ghana is insulting Nigerians. We used to mock Ghana’s money, but today their currency is stronger. See Adeboye during Jonathan’s time complaining about fuel prices, but now, when things are even worse, nobody is talking. They have accepted bad governance as normal life.”
The prophet further urged Nigerian youths to rise up and reclaim their nation from what he described as “businessmen posing as politicians.”
A clip of Odumeje’s remarks has since circulated widely on social media.
