“If You Watched It Again, Go for Confession” — Catholic Priest on Viral Ibom Air Clip
Reverend Father Emmanuel Ehioma has called on anyone who repeatedly watched a viral indecent video of an Ibom Air passenger to seek confession.
The footage, which surfaced on Sunday, showed passenger Comfort Emmanson assaulting a flight attendant and clashing with airport security. In later clips, she was seen being forcibly removed from the aircraft, her clothes torn and her breasts exposed.
Ibom Air has since placed a travel ban on Emmanson. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the sharing of the “unedited” video, calling for the prosecution of those who filmed and posted it. The association has also pledged pro bono legal assistance to Emmanson.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Father Ehioma said that while initial viewers might not have anticipated the nudity, rewatching the clip for gratification is morally wrong.
“If you went back to watch it again, you have to go for confession,” he wrote, likening repeated views to consuming pornography.
“It is regrettable to see husbands, fathers, wives, and mothers describing a lady’s breasts. Kindly meet your priest and confess to the Lord.”
