If You Had Paid Teachers and Respected FCT Workers, You Wouldn’t Be This Jittery – ADC Replies Wike’s Media Rant
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fired back at Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, declaring that his recent outburst against opposition coalition leaders is a clear sign that he is “jittery” and threatened by the growing power of the movement.
In a bold statement released after Wike’s media chat, ADC accused the Minister of panicking over the coalition’s momentum, saying his attacks were “unprovoked and beneath the dignity of his office.” The party taunted Wike, saying his fear is rooted in the realization that Nigerians are rallying around a new political force built to challenge the failures of the current administration.
“If Wike and the government he serves had kept their promises to Nigerians, there would be no coalition to worry about,” the statement read. “But he knows the people are fed up. That’s why he’s nervous.”
The ADC pointed to the ongoing strike by primary school teachers in the FCT, the neglect of workers, and Wike’s penchant for flashy but unproductive billion-naira projects as reasons for growing discontent under his watch. “Had he paid teachers and respected FCT workers instead of chasing headlines with white elephant projects, he wouldn’t be so scared,” the party quipped.
Responding to Wike’s claim that coalition leaders are merely driven by grievances, ADC didn’t hold back: “Yes, we are aggrieved – because your government has plunged millions into poverty. We’re aggrieved because children are out of school while you pose for cameras. And we’re aggrieved that you helped dismantle one of Africa’s strongest parties – the PDP – just to stay in power.”
The statement, signed by coalition spokesman Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, closed with a defiant message: “This movement isn’t about you, Wike. It belongs to the people – the same people your government has failed. No amount of desperate name-calling will stop them now.”
