Ihedioha Declares for ADC, Mobilizes Supporters to Build Grassroots Movement*
Former Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha has formally announced his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rallying his supporters to strengthen the party’s presence across the state. Addressing leaders of his Rebuild Imo Movement (RIM) at his Civil Centre residence on Thursday, Ihedioha described ADC as the new political platform for him and his supporters, declaring, “My party, your party, our party is now ADC. That is the way to go. That is the party for all of us.”
Ihedioha charged RIM leaders to return to their communities and mobilize at the grassroots level to build ADC into a truly people-oriented political force. He emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement, noting that RIM already has structures in all 305 wards and across the 27 local government areas and three geopolitical zones of the state.
“I urge you, as leaders of our Rebuild Imo Movement, to go home to your respective chapters, wards, LGAs and zones, and take this gospel to the grassroots, to the people,” he said. “We are people-oriented. Our strength is the people, the masses.”
The former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives expressed gratitude to his supporters for their loyalty and patience. He praised the leadership of the RIM structure for their dedication, singling out the Director General for administrative ingenuity, as well as the women and youth leaders for their commitment to the cause.
“Together, we shall triumph,” he declared, as he formally aligned his political future with the ADC.
