Identity of 13-Year-Old Allegedly Killed by Soludo’s Agunechemba Operatives, ATM Card Stolen, Revealed

The identity of the 13-year-old boy allegedly shot dead by operatives of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Agunechemba security outfit in Onitsha South Local Government Area, Anambra State, has been officially revealed by his grieving family.

The victim, identified as Fabian Ugo, was a Junior Secondary School 2 student of Comprehensive Secondary School, Igidiagu, in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. According to his family, Fabian had traveled to Onitsha during the school holidays for a vacation job and was scheduled to return to school on Monday, June 16, 2025.

His uncle, Nnamdi Ugo, who spoke on behalf of the family, narrated the harrowing circumstances surrounding Fabian’s death. He claimed that the young boy was shot while easing himself and not in connection with any criminal activity. “If Fabian had been involved in any crime, we might have taken the loss differently,” Ugo said. “But knowing he was innocent and murdered without reason has left us devastated. We will not rest until he gets justice.”

More disturbing, the family alleged that after the killing, the Agunechemba operatives shamelessly took Fabian’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card from his pocket. It was only after police at the Fegge Police Station intervened that the card was recovered and returned to the family. “I was handed the ATM card at the station,” Ugo said. “I am yet to verify if any funds were withdrawn from his account.”

The situation was further compounded when Fabian’s younger relatives were reportedly assaulted by officers at the Fegge Police Station while attempting to formally report the incident.

Amid the trauma, the family expressed gratitude to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Onitsha Main Market Police Post, a female officer described as professional and compassionate. “She stood by us and ensured the matter was not swept under the carpet,” Ugo noted. “She even personally escorted us to Fegge Police Station to follow up.”

As calls for justice grow louder, the family is demanding a full investigation and accountability from the Agunechemba operatives involved in Fabian’s death. The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns over the conduct of local security operatives and the protection of civilians, especially minors, in Anambra State.
