ICE Arrests Nigerian Immigrant Accused of Sex Offence in U.S.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Nigerian national, Chinomso Uma Ochie, in San Antonio on allegations of sexual offences.
ICE announced the arrest in a post on X on Tuesday, sharing Ochie’s photograph and describing him as a 31-year-old Nigerian citizen. The agency emphasized that immigrants who commit crimes risk arrest and the loss of their U.S. residency privileges.
“Being allowed to remain in the U.S. is a privilege,” ICE said. “Anyone who violates the conditions of their admission by committing crimes against children can be arrested and lose their benefits, like sex offender Mr Ochie.”
Ochie’s arrest comes just days after another U.S.-based Nigerian, Theophilis Anwana, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for second-degree rape. The cases highlight ongoing immigration enforcement actions under the administration of President Donald Trump, which have targeted undocumented immigrants and individuals with criminal convictions.
